DACULA, Ga. - Hebron volleyball claimed the Region 8-AA Championship on Saturday afternoon after sweeping Prince Avenue and East Jackson in three sets. This marks the seventh region championship in program history.
Brooke Thao was named Region 8-AA Player of the Year while
Malia Silva and
Ashley Troxell received First Team All Area.
Addison Griffin and
Aubrey Cowart earned Second Team All Area.
Gaelle Gerome,
Imani Howell, and
Laila Walker were named Honorable Mention All Area.Â
In its first game of the region tournament, the Lions defeated Prince Avenue 25-14, 25-13, 25-11. In the championship game, the Lions were victorious 25-9, 25-13, 25-14 over East Jackson.
Aubrey Cowart posted 20 kills and four aces on the day.
Addison Griffin had 17 kills and four aces while
Ashley Troxell recorded 17 kills.Â
Ava Kate O'Kelley tallied four kills. Defensively,
Gaelle Gerome posted seven blocks at the net.
Brooke Thao recorded 50 assists and
Malia Silva had 19 digs.Â
"Really proud of our entire team today," commented head coach Taylor Davis. "It simply boils down to executing in the little things and our girls did an outstanding job today in all phases of the game. In October you want to be playing your best ball and we are very close to being there so the timing is right as we head into the post season. Super proud of our seniors leading the way on and off the court. I'm excited to get the playoffs started next week."
Hebron improves to 35-5 overall as the team enters GHSA State Tournament play this week.Â
