DACULA, Ga. - The Hebron volleyball team clinched a spot in the Private 1-3A State Championship after a thrilling 3-1 victory over Lovett on Saturday.
The Lions took the first two sets 25-21 and 25-18, but Lovett fought back to win the third set 25-18. Hebron regrouped to dominate the fourth set, winning 25-17, extending their impressive 21-match winning streak.
Ashley Troxell led the team with 14 kills, while
Imani Howell contributed 11.
Aubrey Cowart shone with seven kills and 16 digs, and
Gaelle Gerome was a force at the net with seven blocks.
Brooke Thao facilitated the offense with 37 assists, and
Malia Silva added 13 digs and three aces.
"Hats off to Lovett, they played an incredible great match," said head coach Taylor Davis. "We knew they had a few solid pieces, so we knew they could compete. We were a little up and down, but I'm very pleased with the match. We are excited to live another five more days."
The Lions are vying for its third state championship. Hebron will take on Mount Pisgah on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 5:00 p.m. at LakePoint Sports Complex. Mount Pisgah (40-7) defeated Mount Paran in 3-2 to advance to the state title.
