Hebron Boys Tennis Wins Region 8-AA Championship, First Time in School History

DACULA, Ga. - The Hebron boys tennis team won the Region 8-AA Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the HCA Tennis Complex. The Lions defeated Prince Avenue 3-2 to be capture its first-ever region championship.

Hugh Mazzawi and Ryan Donat captured the first doubles point after defeating the Wolverines 6-2, 6-4. Davien Zan won his match from the No. 2 singles to put the Lions up 2-0. Parker Landman fell in his match 6-0, 6-2 as the No. 1 singles. Nicholas Hancock fought a hard battle from the No. 3 position, but ultimately ended up dropping his match 6-3, 6-3.

That left it up to Avenir Huryn and Brady Patrick to clinch the match from the No. 2 doubles. The dynamic duo won 6-4, 7-5 over the Wolverines to crown the Lions its first Region 8-AA Championship. 

On the girls side, the team finished in third place after sweeping East Jackson 3-0. Ainsley Trenbeath took the win from the No. 1 singles position 6-2, 6-4. Sarah Mix was victorious 6-2, 6-1 as the No. 2 and Kate Dyson won 7-5, 6-3 in her match as the No. 3 to seal the victory for the Lions. 

Hebron waits until next week to start the GHSA State Playoffs. Opponent and dates are to be determined.
