DACULA, Ga. - Wednesday, Nov. 12 was a great day for Hebron Athletics, as eight student athletes officially signed to play at the collegiate level, and were honored at this Fall's athletic signing.
The talented group of signees, which will compete for top Division I universities like Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina, includes volleyball's Aubrey Cowart (Georgia College and State University), and Gaelle Gerome (Lee University), softball's Lauren Kyranakis (Georgia State) and Brittyn Sissom (Wofford College), girls basketball's Alanna Beckham (Georgia), Gabby Minus (Tennessee) and Kobi Barnes (University of West Georgia) and swim's Riley Richards (South Carolina).Â
During its time at Hebron, this group has represented Hebron Athletics and HCA at the highest level, as athletes and students. Athletically, the group has played for multiple state championships, winning a handful, while nabbing a slew of individual honors along the way.Â
"This is a special moment, these eight (student-athletes) here could not be where they are today without the group out here, each time we get to do this it's such a great opportunity to reflect back on the skills and accomplishments of the ones who are signing, but I promise you that it's the journey, it's the journey of the peers, parents and coaches that partnered with these eight special student-athletes," Hebron Athletic Director and head volleyball coach Taylor Davis said. "The big thing here is just a heart of gratitude and appreciation. When you get the opportunity … go share your appreciation with a parent, a coach (or) a peer. We need to make sure that as you guys transition, you need to understand that all the gifts are given from God, and to make sure that we glorify him through that."
Not only have these student-athletes been great teammates and leaders for their respective teams, but they have remembered who gave them the ability to do that.
