Hebron Football Reaches Final Four, First Time in Program History

The Hebron football team (10-2) made history on Friday night after defeating Aquinas 63-13 to advance to the Final Four for the first time in school history. The Lions face Fellowship Christian (10-2) at Bob Lord Stadium on Friday, Dec. 6 for the Final Four showdown.

This will be the Paladins fifth Final Four appearance in program history. Fellowship defeated Wesleyan 28-14 to advance to the GHSA Private Final Four. This contest between Hebron and Fellowship will be a rematch of the regular season game on Aug. 23rd, the Lions defeated the Paladins 38-18. 

Thomas Stallworth had quite the game against the Aquinas Fighting Irish after he threw for 215 yards and had five touchdowns. The senior ran for 171 yards and posted two scores of his own on the night. In the second possession of the game, Stallworth took off for a 41-yard touchdown to put the Lions on the board first. Cameron Elben hit between the posts for a 7-0 lead with 7:10 in the first. Stallworth ran again for a 84-yard touchdown run to give the Lions a 14-0 advantage over the Fighting Irish. 

Hebron went up 21-0 at the end of the first quarter after Stallworth found Jarvis Mathurin in the end zone. Devon Caldwell made it 27-0 after a 13-yard run. Mathurin added another score for the night after Stallworth threw to him again to put the Lions up 35-0. Stallworth hit Destin Matthews in the end zone to put the Lions up 42-0 heading into the break.

Coming out of the break, Stallworth connected with Mathurin again to go up 56-0 in the third. Adrian Hollingshed then ran it in for another six to increase the lead to 63-0. Mathurin had six catches for 129 yards and three scores on the night.

The Lion defense held the Fighting Irish to 13 points on the night. Freshman Fred Moss had four sacks on the night.

"We played dominant, it was a great game because we played the way I thought we could play," commented head coach Jonathan Gess. "We just got to keep it going and focus on who we play next week."
