CLARKSVILLE, Ga. – The Hebron Christian Academy boys golf team advanced to the GHSA State Championship for the second consecutive year after finishing runner-up Monday at the Area Tournament, hosted by Apple Mountain Golf Club.
The Lions posted a score of 317 to finish in second place behind Area Champion, Wesleyan (288). Oconee County rounded out the advancing teams in third place with a score of 321.
HCA was led by junior Evan Rogers, who carded a 4-under 68 to finish tied atop the individual standings with Wesleyan's Ben Brown. The two players entered a playoff and Rogers birdied the 18th hole to win the playoff and capture the individual Area Championship.
Freshman Brody Taylor fired a 9-over 81 for the Lions to finish 15th overall, while Sophomore Christian Foray and junior Cameron Eblan both carded 12-over 84's to finish tied for 24th overall and round out the scoring for HCA. Sophomore Aspen Taylor (86) and freshman Ethan Kim (96) also competed for the Lions in the event.
HCA returns to action at the 2024 GHSA State Championship, hosted May 20-21 at LaFayette Golf Club in LaFayette, Georgia.
