TENNILLE, Ga. – Senior Evan Rogers continued his remarkable career Tuesday afternoon at the GHSA Private Boys State Golf Championship, firing a final-round 6-under 66 to dominate the field and capture his second consecutive state championship.
Rogers opened the tournament on Monday with a 2-under 70, trailing the leader by three shots heading into the final round. After an opening-hole bogey on Tuesday dropped him to 1-under for the tournament, Rogers quickly found his rhythm and never looked back.
Over the next 17 holes, he delivered a flawless performance with seven birdies and 10 pars. Closing with four birdies over the final five holes, Rogers surged ahead to secure his second straight state title in commanding fashion, clearing the field by nine shots.
"Evan has once again shown why he's one of the best high school golfers in the state," said Head Coach Matt Cunningham. "His ability to stay composed under pressure and perform at the highest level is truly remarkable. He is cementing his legacy as one of the best golfers in school history and setting a standard of excellence for future Hebron golfers to follow."
In his four rounds at the GHSA State Championship over the past two years, Rogers is a combined 13-under par with 21 birdies, winning by a combined margin of 13 shots.
With his victory, Rogers caps a stellar high school career as a two-time state champion. He is set to attend UT Chattanooga this fall to play golf.
