Rogers Leads Field at GHSA State Championship

LaFAYETTE, Ga. – The Hebron Christian Academy boys golf team opened play at the 2024 GHSA 3A Golf Championship on Monday as junior Evan Rogers holds on a one-shot lead at LaFayette Golf Course.

Coming off a victory at the GHSA Area Tournament, Rogers carded a bogey-free 3-under 69 on Monday and holds a one stroke lead over Wesleyan's Alex Holcomb. Rogers, a UT Chattanooga commit, opened his day with a birdie and posted birdies on all three par fives to secure the lead after the opening round.

As a team, HCA sits tied for eighth place in the field of 12 teams after a 56-over 344. Wesleyan is 12 shots clear of the field after an opening-round 300, while Savannah Country Day (312), Columbus (313), Bremen (316) and Richmond Academy (316) round out the top five.

Aspen Taylor and Cam Eblen finished at 19-over-par and are tied for 51st overall, while Christian Foray and Brody Taylor are tied for 55th after both finishing at 21-over for the day. Ethan Kim finished with a 108.

The Lions are slated for the early tee times Tuesday morning, starting at 8:10 a.m. as HCA is making its third consecutive appearance at the GHSA State Championship.
