DACULA, Ga. - The Hebron Christian Academy soccer teams extended their unbeaten runs on Tuesday evening, with the girls defeating Whitefield Academy 3-1 and the boys securing a 2-1 victory over the Wolfpack.
In the girls match, the Wolfpack took the 1-0 lead, heading into the locker room. The Lions came to life in the second half when
Kaitlyn Green scored from the left side post on an assist from
Micah Turner. Green then scored the second goal off a free kick from
Mariah Cooley to give the Lions a 2-1 advantage. Green had the assist for the third goal after she beat her defender and found
Eloise Jones, who put it into the back of the net to seal the 3-1 victory. Defensively, goalkeeper
Ava Isaacs was solid with five saves, helping the Lions improve to 6-0 on the season.
The boys match featured a similar hard-fought battle. The Wolfpack scored first after they scored off a long ball into the box from their goalkeeper and went up 1-0. Hebron responded, with
Aiden Kanclerz crossing the ball to
Archie Mindra, who netted the equalizer to make it 1-1 at halftime.
Benji Gunji scored the game-winning goal, firing a shot into the right corner of the net with 13 minutes remaining. Hebron's defense held firm, with goalkeeper
Chase Grey recording eight saves to preserve the 2-1 victory and improve the boys record to 9-0.
Next up, both teams will host Stephens County on Thursday, March 13. The girls will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
